How To Carve A Pumpkin |
|
|
|
Carved pumpkins are a great way to spruce up your porch at Halloween time. It is a great project for school aged children or for adults who have a creative side.
Tips For Carving Pumpkins
- Choose the right pumpkin: Make sure the pumpkin is the correct shape for the type of carving you are going to do. If you are going to do a simple face on a pumpkin, you will want a round pumpkin that doesn't have many irregularities. If you are going to carve a large design you will want a larger pumpkin (common sense).
- Cut open the top of the pumpkin with a pumpkin knife. Make sure to make a notch when you cut the top open so the top easily fits back into the pumpkin the same way it did when you started.
- Scoop out all of the seeds with your hands or with a spoon. After all the seeds have been removed you can use the spoon to clean off tje remaining residue on the inside of the pumpkin.
- Use your pumpkin knife to carve out your design.
- When you are complete, top of your design by placing a candle inside the pumpkin and display it for all to see.
